Massage therapy from a licensed practitioner can:
The goal of Swedish Massage is to melt away muscle tension and increase the blood flow to your heart. Swedish Massage is extremely therapeutic as it decreases muscle toxins, increases oxygen levels in the blood, and improves flexibility in the body.
Deep Tissue Massage reaches deeper layers of muscles. It is used to break down knots and relieve pressure points throughout the body. This massage is beneficial for athletes and those who sit for long periods of time.
Neuromuscular massage therapy involves applying alternating levels of concentrated pressure to the trigger point – usually using the fingers, knuckles or elbow. Once applied, the pressure should not vary for 10 to 30 seconds.
What Are The Neuromuscular Therapy Massage Benefits?
Other benefits from neuromuscular therapy include an increase of energy levels, improvements in blood circulation, balanced musculoskeletal and nervous systems, lowered body toxin levels, and improvements in overall posture. It can also help you relax and feel less tension days after an appointment
Sports massages are similar to deep-tissue massages, but they zero in on the muscles that take a beating when you play sports or do another repetitive physical activity. “Athletes and dancers use their bodies differently than the average person, therefore, the massage therapist with experience in sports massage can get in there to break up muscle tightness and address sports injuries.
Sports Massage Benefits
Trigger point involves treating points in the muscle to relieve tension. Trigger pointing increases temperature and blood flow through the muscles promoting relaxation. When muscles are relaxed they can be restored to its full length. Trigger pointing helps restore movement and increase flexibility in the muscles. In addition, not only is this technique effective in reducing headaches and muscle tension, it can also improve range of motion and flexibility. Patients have found it successful in improving their posture and relieving pain.
With Thai massage, you can wear your own loose-fitting clothes, or the practitioner may have you change into scrub-like garments — a loose cotton top and drawstring pants. You keep your clothes on throughout the massage.
Typically, you’ll lie on a mat or massage mattress on the floor, not on a massage table. Once on the mat, your practitioner will slowly move your body through multiple stretches, using the weight and pressure of their body to assist you.
Unlike a Swedish massage, oil isn’t used and your muscles typically aren’t kneaded. Instead, the practitioner will use their hands, thumbs, elbows, and knees to stretch, pull, and rock different parts of your body. They may even sit on you to stretch you into certain positions.
Some types of stretches may involve going through yoga-like movements with the practitioner holding or pulling you to maintain a pose.
If your muscles are sore or tense, you may feel some discomfort. If you do, let your practitioner know so the pressure and stretching can be reduced.
If you have an injury, or some part of your body is particularly sensitive to pain, be sure to let the practitioner know before they start the massage session.
Thai massage is focused on improving the flow of energy throughout your body.
Some benefits include:
Swe-thai massage therapy is a wonderful combination therapy for stress relief and relaxation, blending the relaxing strokes of Swedish massage with the stretching techniques of traditional Thai massage. Although the entire body is massaged, this treatment is superb for neck and back pain, areas where most people carry stress and are often primary areas of concern.
Swe-Thai is a unique variation of massage that blends Thai techniques such as rocking, compressions and stretching with the more hands-on soft tissue manipulations of Swedish massage. Not to be confused with Thai for the Table, in which a therapist will adopt a traditional Thai massage for a massage table rather than performing the routine on a mat on the floor. Swe-Thai is a slightly different take on two old traditions.
While Thai or Thai for the Table massages are generally performed with the client clothed, Swe-Thai is done while the client is undressed or minimally clothed under a sheet and/or blanket, utilizing traditional draping techniques to maintain the client’s modesty. This way the therapist can perform traditional Swedish moves as well as the Thai massage stretches and compressions. Some of the work can be performed over the drape as well.
This routine was designed specifically to treat general neck and back conditions, because it allows the therapist to perform more concentrated therapeutic work such as stretches without sacrificing their palpatory skills.
Although some other modalities may utilize some of the same moves, it’s really the blending of the eastern and western techniques that creates the magic in this form of bodywork. So if you’re looking for focused relaxation, pain reduction, better flexibility and increased range of motion, Swe-Thai is just the thing for you.
This amazing modality is done on the table quite as easily utilizing many of the same forms and delivery as traditional Thai massage. It can feel like a combination of intense stretching, acupressure, yoga, deep compression and shiatsu. It has excellent benefits for the entire body and greatly aids enhanced flexibility and circulation.
Other benefits of this highly engaging technique include:
Thai for the table will leave you feeling invigorated from deep, yet safe stretching and can also be a great ‘shock to one’s system’ so to speak, simply by positioning the body in new and unpredictable ways.
